Alexander von Mellenthin
Founded European and African focused corporate finance and investment company Melcofin & Co. (previously Mellenthin & Co.) in 1998, of which he is managing partner and was one of the founders of Paarl Equity in 2005, a private equity platform for wealthy families in German-speaking Europe.
He has over 30 years of investment banking experience in both Europe and selective African countries and has been advising French, German and South African corporates and also some early-stage technology businesses. In addition advises large South African and European family investors and has selectively invested with such families in businesses.
Director of companies, is a member of the Baden Badener Entrepreneur talks in Germany and was appointed a Senior advisor to GGA – Good Governance for Africa. Has developed a particular strong cross-border focus, be it between French, German and English-speaking markets.
Further to having undertaken his banking studies in Germany and a 2 year management trainee programme at Commerzbank (Frankfurt), he subsequently worked as a manager at Standard Merchant Bank (Johannesburg) and was a senior Corporate Finance/banking member at S.G. Warburg & Co. (London). Prior to having set-up his own advisory and investment business, was also a board member of Yamaichi Europe (London). He is fluent in English, German and French.
