ALEXANDER VON MELLENTHIN
Founded European and African focused corporate finance and investment company Melcofin & Co. (previously Mellenthin & Co.) in 1998, of which he is managing partner and was one of the founders of Paarl Equity in 2005, a private equity platform for wealthy families in German-speaking Europe.
He has over 30 years of investment banking experience in both Europe and selective African countries and has been advising French, German and South African corporates and also some early-stage technology businesses. In addition advises large South African and European family investors and has selectively invested with such families in businesses.
Director of companies, is a member of the Baden Badener Entrepreneur talks in Germany and was appointed a Senior advisor to GGA – Good Governance for Africa. Has developed a particular strong cross-border focus, be it between French, German and English-speaking markets.
Further to having undertaken his banking studies in Germany and a 2 year management trainee programme at Commerzbank (Frankfurt), he subsequently worked as a manager at Standard Merchant Bank (Johannesburg) and was a senior Corporate Finance/banking member at S.G. Warburg & Co. (London). Prior to having set-up his own advisory and investment business, was also a board member of Yamaichi Europe (London). He is fluent in English, German and French.
Ian Buchel has re-joined Melcofin and is in charge of technology and TMT/IT sector covering South Africa and other selective African countries.
Ian has 20 years M&A, corporate finance experience and used to be part of Cazenove in Johannesburg and was a shareholder and advisor to African IT tower business Eaton Towers.
Ian is also an advisor to Corniche Growth Advisors and which in turn is a strategic partner to Melcofin.
JUAN NICOLAS PINEROS PETERSEN
As a cooperation partner of Melcofin he has over 20 years of corporate and investment banking expertise with BHF Bank (now called BHF Oddo) and previous head of M&A at BHF.
He covers German Mittelstand companies in wide-ranging industries (building, chemicals, automotive, retail and furniture industry). He has advised large German family-owned businesses on German and cross-border transactions.
Juan Nicolas Pineros Petersen is also Chairman (non-executive) of the supervisory board of a German asset management company.
Ticha was born in London and raised in Zimbabwe. He has over 25 years of professional experience gained in South Africa, the UK and Zimbabwe.
For the past 13 years he has worked exclusively in corporate finance leading engagements for top-rated companies including Deloitte, PwC and Nedbank. Ticha has executed projects across a wide range of sectors including telecommunications, financial services, information technology and retail, among others.
Ticha is a qualified chartered accountant.
After an earlier career as a global management consultant Mike Rosholt now has over 13 years in cross-border M&A, capital markets and corporate finance experience and has spent many years managing and originating deals across Sub-Saharan Africa, with a particular focus on East African markets.
During this time he has gained specific competencies in the industrial, mining, managed-services, financial services, technology, agro-processing and property sectors.
Guido commenced his career with Peters Associates AG and subsequently worked for a German mid-cap private equity fund. He joined Melcofin in 2007. He is a graduate of University of St. Gallen, Switzerland and holds a Master of Arts HSG in Economics.
Guido manages M&A/corporate finance transactions of Melcofin & Co. within German-speaking Europe. Guido is fluent in German, English, French and Italian.
In addition to his corporate finance and M&A activities Guido is an active investor in smaller German family-owned businesses.
Guido’s particular area of specialisation is within the Technology/IT sector, the professional service industry and the health care sector. He is based in Frankfurt am Main/Germany.
